Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5, the latest offering in the long-running series, expands on the action-heavy formula of its forerunner and is built from the ground up to support cooperative gameplay. Though it can no longer be considered a survival horror game, Resident Evil 5 manages to retain and effectively translate the most important aspect of that genre–tension–into its new mechanics. It crafts a fun, collaborative experience that will keep you on your toes the entire time.
Ten years after the destruction of Raccoon City, former S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team member Chris Redfield is …

Need for Speed: Shift

A fantastic racing game by they guys who made GTR2. Not as hardcore as that title, strikes just the right balance between sim and arcade. The cockpit is simply amazing, an extremely immersive and intense experience.
The graphics are the best I’ve seen in any racing game (may not surpass GT5 Prologue). Clean graphics with a great view distance, no blurriness beyond 20 feet. Excellent use of post processing techniques to simulate what it feels like when driving a race car at 100+ mph. The camera angle will shift as you …

DiRT 2

It seems that Codemasters managed to once again turn out another strong showing in the Colin McRae franchise, even if it doesn’t carry his name anymore. Unfortunately, the PSP version of the game is pretty bad. Damn bad, you might say.

Starting with the driving, which is easily the game’s most infuriating problem, each of …

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Since 1986, there have been roughly 19 Batman-inspired video games. Nearly all have been mediocre interpretations of the Dark Knight’s exploits in Gotham City. The new Batman: Arkham Asylum, from Eidos and Warner Bros., looks to change that reputation by combining Bat-lore with a sophisticated action game.

The most compelling element in this Batman game is its seriousness. It’s not just a collection of cartoonish characters engaged in a battle of good and evil — the environments are all a little darker and the characters are a little more sinister than …

G-Force

With proper training, guinea pigs can be impressive secret agents. They can learn to speak to humans and can speak like them. Wear jet packs for more mobility, and even use powerful whips in their tiny paws. Just don’t expect them to carry guns. The PSP version of G-Force uses many of the same environments and enemies as its console siblings, but it strips the adventurous rodents of their precious firearms. Although the game drags at times, G-Force is still a fun adaptation of the blockbuster movie.
For the majority of …
